Gold Jewelry

Gold jewelry usually has the karat stamped somewhere on the piece.  Typical jewelry is 10 karat, or 41% gold.

Other karats are 14, 16, 18 and sometimes 22.

Gold from Asian countries quite often is 22 karat.

We buy Gold jewelry by its weight  in grams.

The formula for determining price paid per gram

We have a formula that we use to determine the price paid per gram.  That price is always based upon the most current spot price.

Formula:

Spot price/31.103*karat gold content*percentage paid*.

*The percentage paid varies from time to time, but is never less than 75%

GOLD CONTENT

Percentage of gold in various karat weights:

10 karat = .417 or 41.7% gold (10/24)

14 karat = .585 or 58.5% gold (14/24)

16 karat = .666 or 66.6% gold (16/24)

18 karat = .75 or 75% gold (18/24)

22 karat = .92 or 92% gold (22/24)

24 karat = 10.0 or 100% gold (24/24)
